  • Choose Soft, Breathable Fabrics

When it comes to baby eczema clothing, fabric choice is everything. Natural, breathable fibres like bamboo or organic cotton are ideal because they help regulate temperature and wick away moisture. Synthetic fabrics can trap sweat, which may irritate delicate skin and trigger flare-ups.

    Why bamboo?

Bamboo is hypoallergenic, silky-soft, and naturally moisture-wicking. It’s gentle against even the most sensitive skin, making bamboo eczema sleepwear a favourite among parents.

Try Built-In Mittens or Scratch Sleeves

Babies with eczema often scratch in their sleep without realising it, which can break the skin and worsen flare-ups. Protective eczema sleepwear with fold-over mittens or integrated scratch sleeves can help prevent accidental damage overnight.

If your baby often scratches their face or scalp, you might also consider a soft, well-fitted sleep cap made from breathable fabric.

Keep Layers Simple and Room Temperature Just Right

Overheating is a common eczema trigger. Instead of bundling your baby in too many layers, dress them in a single layer of breathable pajamas or a breathable bamboo bodysuit under a baby sleeping bag and adjust the room temperature to a comfortable, cool level — around 18–20°C is ideal.

In cooler months, a lightweight sleeping bag designed for sensitive skin can keep them warm without trapping excess heat.

    Wash Bedding and Sleepwear Gently

What you wash your baby’s bedding and sleepwear with matters just as much as what you dress them in.

✔️ Use fragrance-free, hypoallergenic laundry detergent.

✔️ Avoid fabric softeners and harsh chemicals.

✔️ Double rinse if needed to remove residue that might irritate the skin.

    Add a Soothing Bedtime Routine

A calming bedtime routine can help your baby relax and reduce scratching triggers. After a gentle bath (with lukewarm water and an eczema-friendly cleanser), pat their skin dry and apply a generous layer of moisturiser while their skin is still damp.

Then, dress them in their soft, protective baby eczema clothing and enjoy some quiet cuddle time before bed.
