It is four in the afternoon and you have not eaten a proper thing all day. The craving is not the problem. The problem is that most of the quick things within reach give you a sugar hit and nothing else.

These healthy cherry ripe balls are the answer to that four o'clock moment: real morello cherries, coconut and dark chocolate, with all the flavour of the Aussie classic and none of the food dyes, fructose syrup or vegetable fats.

Built on our Nourish Mama Lactation Bliss Balls Premix and ready in the fridge whenever you need one.

    Healthy Cherry Ripe Balls

    Ingredients

    • 1 pack (275g) Nourish Mama Lactation Bliss Balls Premix

    • 1 cup (approx 150g drained) jarred morello cherries, well drained, patted very dry and roughly chopped

    • 1/2 cup (45g) desiccated coconut, plus extra for rolling

    • 1/2 a ripe avocado (add the rest only if needed — the cherries add moisture)

    • 2 tbsp coconut oil, melted

    • 3 tbsp maple syrup

    blank

    • 200g dark chocolate (dairy-free if avoiding dairy), chopped

    • 2 tbsp Nourish Mama Lactation Hot Chocolate, Original

    • Extra desiccated coconut, to sprinkle

    Directions

    1. Place the bliss ball premix, chopped dried cherries and desiccated coconut in a food processor.
Add the avocado, melted coconut oil and maple syrup.

    2. Blend until the mixture comes together and can easily be rolled into a ball in your fingers. If it is a little dry, add a teaspoon of coconut oil or water at a time until it binds.

    3. Roll about 1 tablespoon at a time into balls. You should get around 20. Place on a lined tray.

    4. Chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

    5. Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl, either over a saucepan of simmering water or in the microwave in 30 second bursts, stirring well between each so it does not burn.

    6. Whisk the Nourish Mama Lactation Hot Chocolate through the melted chocolate until smooth.

    7. Dip each chilled ball into the chocolate to coat, then return to the tray.
Leave a few uncoated if you like, for the little ones.

    8. Sprinkle with a little extra desiccated coconut while the chocolate is still soft.

    9. Allow the chocolate to set for 30 to 60 minutes, then store in an airtight container in the fridge.
