DIY Baby Wipes For Eczema & Sensitive Skin

Have you tried to find a truly hypoallergenic, gentle, all-natural, eco baby wipe lately? Good luck! It seems that even the most respected ‘green’ brands still have chemicals and preservatives that may be a big no-no for kids with eczema or other skin sensitivities. Since we all know the value and importance of a tough wipe, you’ll be happy to know that there are a few simple things you can do to make your own at home using ingredients and materials that you can trust and rely on. Today, we’re going to share some great ideas with you that came from experience and from parents on the Bamboo Bubby Facebook page. Enjoy!

    Store Bought Baby Wipes

While some wipes work for some kids, there seem to be a few brands that stand out above the rest. A recent poll on our Facebook pages suggest that Curash, Water Wipes, Naty, and Wotnot may perform above the rest. While many parents fare well with these brands, they may not work for everyone. If it’s easier for you to purchase your wipes than make your own, these brands might be a great place to start!

    DIY Baby Wipes

Here are a few simple ways that you can create your own baby wipes at home using gentle materials and ingredients…

    Reusable Wipes

This is a really economical and ecological way to have the most luxuriously soft baby wipes possible! Here’s what you’ll need:

    ·         A spray bottle – brand new, never used.

    ·         Bamboo fabric, a well-worn flannel shirt, or other hypoallergenic soft material that you can cut into squares

    ·         Pure water

    ·         Aloe juice, calendula oil, or other nourishing skin goodies

To use, just fill the spray bottle with water and top it off with a bit of aloe juice or a few drops of any safe skin-helpful essential oil or ingredient. Many parents find that even a few drops of their baby’s regular bath soap is perfect.

To wipe, just grab a pre-cut square of fabric, give it a few sprays, and use. Place in a bin when done, and wash as needed in the same way you would a cloth nappy.

    DIY Disposables

Many parents purchase basic disposable wipes that have nothing more than water in them, and then add to them to make them more effective. Properly diluted essential oils, bath oils, aloe, or other ingredients can be mixed with water and poured over the disposable wipes for a truly nourishing experience.
